Following the January 21st meeting of the MLI Working Group and the January 24th meeting of the Steering Group, the MLI Workplan for 2022 has been agreed.
Similar to 2021, there are four distinct but interconnected media literacy workstreams for 2022. The priority activities identified for 2022 include delivering a pilot version of the ‘Recognising Excellence’ Awards Programme and developing phase two of the MLI website.
Workstream 1 is ‘Coordinate’. The objective is to be an acknowledged first port of call in relation to media literacy queries and to provide support and advice for media literacy stakeholders (national and international).
Workstream 2 is ‘Communicate’. The objective is to foster discussion and debate around all aspects of media literacy in Ireland with a view to helping to identify emerging issues, gaps in provision, opportunities for collaboration.
Workstream 3 is ‘Innovate’. The objective is to inspire, encourage and facilitate the development of new media literacy projects, programmes and interventions, and encourage evaluation and sustainability.
Workstream 4 is ‘Promote’. The objective is to use the strength, reach and expertise of MLI members to collectively highlight media literacy related issues and sign-post to sources of support via multi-stakeholder public awareness campaigns.
As in previous years, MLI members are warmly invited to share their time, expertise and experience to help MLI achieve as much as possible under each of these Workstreams. A follow-up email will be circulated to all Working Group members but please do get in touch if you would like to be more involved by emailing martinachapman@mercuryinsights.com
