As a joint action by DG EAC and DG CNECT, the main task of the group over the next 12 months will be to assist the Commission in preparing common guidelines for teachers and educators to tackle disinformation and promote digital literacy through education and training – in line with Action 7 the Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027.
The final guidelines will published in the autumn of 2022 as part of a ‘back to school’ campaign across Europe.
Members of the Expert Group were selected from applications in response to an open call launched earlier in the year and brings together 25 individuals and organisations representing sectors such as broadcast, journalism, technology, civil society, media, teaching, education and training.
Additionally, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the Council of Europe, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) were invited to join the group due to their prior expertise in the field.
More information about the group and its members is available on the dedicated page of the Expert group in the Commission Register.
