National Co-Ordinator of Media Literacy Ireland Martina Chapman spoke at the Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport and Media. In the opening statement Martina Chapman outlines the important work of Media Literacy Ireland describing it as a key player in promoting media literacy since 2018. Engaging with over 350 members from diverse fields and implementing successful initiatives such as, the Be Media Smart campaign which encourages people to Stop, Think and Check that the information they are getting is accurate and reliable. Martina Chapman also highlighted the need for reliable, well-resourced, cross-sector infrastructure to tackle disinformation.
