by Ciarán Kelly, Head of Impact and Development at Kinia
Kinia is a nonprofit dedicated to reducing educational inequality across Ireland. Kinia believes that learning is a lifelong journey – a key that unlocks opportunities, nurtures potential, and inspires future generations.
As a capacity-building organisation, Kinia resources learning environments with the digital equipment, professional development and interventions they need to ensure future-focused skills and learning opportunities are available for all children and young people. Whether in schools, youth settings, or local communities, learning happens everywhere, and Kinia is there to support it.
Currently, Kinia has impacted over 360,000 young people across Ireland.
The new Experience AI programme is available at the Kinia Academy, which is a community learning space for teachers, youth workers and volunteers that are working with young people. The programme offers cutting-edge resources on artificial intelligence and machine learning for teachers and students.
The aim of this programme is to empower learners to become critical consumers and responsible creators of AI systems. It provides free resources and professional development opportunities, giving educators everything they need to confidently deliver AI and machine-learning sessions in their classrooms. These resources include lesson plans, slide decks, worksheets and videos.
The Kinia Academy has a range of online courses on topics, including podcasting, mobile filmmaking, AI, machine learning, robotics, smart energy and green technology. With the valuable support of their partners, Kinia can offer courses and equipment to schools and youth services that are aligned with their mission for educational inclusion. All Kinia programmes are available in both Irish and English, and can be delivered through the Kinia Academy in person, or via blended learning formats.
